Education Director, LatinoJustice PRLDEF (Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund) (New York, New York)

Sonji Patrick is the Director of Education at LatinoJustice PRLDEF. In this capacity, she works to carry out the organization’s mission to nurture the next generation of civic leaders by increasing access to the legal profession. She manages all pre-law and pipeline programming, now part of the Cesar A. Perales (CAP) Leadership Institute. Programs include the LSAT Prep Course, LAWbound:registered:, LSAT-to-JD workshop series, Youth Social Justice Days, counseling services, and the organization’s signature event, LatinoJustice PRLDEF’s Annual Law Day.

Additionally, Sonji collaborates with major law firms, corporations, Latino bar associations and Latino law student associations (LALSAs) to offer programs to current law students. Ms. Patrick has written articles published in the CLEO Edge magazine and the NYSBA Pro Bono Newsletter. And she was also featured in the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) spring 2014 edition of their on-line magazine, Diversity & the Bar.

Ms. Patrick makes regular presentations at NY area colleges and pre-law events on law school admissions and diversity topics. She is a member of the Northeast Association of Pre-Law Advisors (NAPLA), and serves on the New York state and local bar associations’ diversity committees.
