Sherry A. Weaver, M.A.

 

Sherry Weaver assisted in the creation of the Office of Minority Affairs—now Diversity Services—and has been responsible for directing diversity efforts at American University’s Washington College of Law since 1993. She has a collaborative working relationship with the student organizations that represent communities of color, aka “the ALSAs,” which also advise Diversity Services on student quality-of-life issues. Ms. Weaver also counsels individual students in her role as a member of the Office of Student Affairs. She assists with recruiting students from underrepresented populations through the Admissions Office and serves on the Admissions Committee. She also helped establish and administers the Dean’s Diversity Council, an external advisory group comprised of alumni and non-alumni practitioners and judges and members of faculty. Ms. Weaver has taught composition for the Professional Writing Program at the University of Maryland College Park and Trinity University. She holds a B.A. and an M.A. in English from Howard University and the University of Maryland respectively.
