Robert T. Maldonado is a partner of Cooper & Dunham LLP, an intellectual property boutique firm in New York City that was founded in 1887. Robert specializes in intellectual property litigation, including patent, trademark, copyright, false advertising and unfair competition matters in federal court. He is a registered patent attorney with experience obtaining United States utility and design patents, primarily in the mechanical, material and software and process arts, and obtaining trademark and copyright protection. He has negotiated and drafted intellectual property licensing agreements, in areas such as consumer products, as well as pharmaceuticals. Robert has extensive litigation experience at both the trial court and appellate court levels, as well as before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Robert received the 2013 HNBA Regional President of the Year Award, the 2013 “El Award” from El Diario La Prensa, and has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” in the field of intellectual property litigation in 2012 and 2013.

Robert received his J.D. from 2 Stanford Law School, and his B.S. in mechanical engineering from MIT. In addition to serving as the President of HNBA Region II since 2012, Robert has served as national chair of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Section of the HNBA from 2010-2013 under the terms of three HNBA National Presidents.
