Diversity and Inclusion Officer, Proskauer Rose LLP (New York, New York)

Wilson, Jr. is Proskauer’s Diversity and Inclusion Officer. He focuses on leading the firm’s core commitment to diversity and inclusion, and making it integral to overall business strategy. Working closely with the Executive Committee, Diversity Steering Committee and other firm leaders, he develops strategies and programs that enhance the recruitment, retention and advancement of lawyers of racial and ethnic minority groups, women, LGBT lawyers and those with disabilities.

Prior to joining Proskauer in 2012, Peter was the Director of Diversity and Legal Recruiting for an AmLaw 200 firm. He additionally chaired that firm’s hiring committees and oversaw all non-partner lawyers hiring.

Before assuming diversity leadership, Peter practiced corporate and public finance law. He served as bond and disclosure counsel to the State of Connecticut, as well as bond counsel to a number of Connecticut towns. He also represented banks and borrowers in a wide array of transactions including securitizations and asset-backed financings. Hartford Business Journal named Peter one of its “40 Under Forty” lawyers in 2007.

As a frequent presenter at major diversity conferences, Peter has delivered key presentations for the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, the National Association for Law Placement and the Association of Law Firm Diversity Professionals (ALFDP).

He also has served on numerous non-profit boards. Currently, Peter is Chair of the Tri-State Diversity Council and Vice President of ALFDP. He has been a board member of the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity and the Vice President of Outreach for the Connecticut Rivers Council Boy Scouts of America.
