Dean of Students and Diversity Affairs, Southwestern Law School

Nydia Duenez is the Dean of Students and Diversity Affairs at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, California. Dean Duenez counsels students regarding academic and career planning. She also coordinates various academic advisement and retention programs and events to promote diversity. Additionally, she develops programming to assist with the recruitment and retention of first generation and diverse populations, as well as coordinating networking opportunities for diverse students. Dean Duenez teaches Advanced Topics in American Law, American Legal Learning for Internationally Educated Student’s seminar, as well as a bar support course for Southwestern alumni. In addition, Dean Duenez serves as a coach for the Southwestern Law School Negotiation Honors Program.

Dean Duenez received her B.A. degree with a double major in Political Science and Communication from the University of Southern California and her J.D. degree from Southwestern Law School. Dean Duenez has worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment in the Music Affairs Group and at Universal Music Group in Business and Legal Affairs where she was a Legal Consultant. Prior to coming to Southwestern Law School, Dean Duenez was the Supervising Attorney at the Law Offices of David S. Chesley, a criminal defense law firm
