Charles Hamilton Houston III, Esq. is Assistant General Counsel at ABM Industries, Inc., the nation’s largest integrated facility management company with over $4 billion in revenue annually. Mr. Houston is a corporate attorney with more than a decade of experience in complex commercial litigation. He is licensed to practice law in Texas, Arizona, and numerous federal jurisdictions. His areas of responsibility include international business and franchising, joint ventures, subsidiary governance, and government contracting and compliance. Prior to joining ABM, Mr. Houston handled high-exposure product liability litigation and governmental relations matters as Assistant General Counsel with U-Haul International, Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona. Before entering the world of corporate counsel, Mr. Houston founded the Phoenix office of the nation’s largest minority-owned law firm, Gonzalez Saggio and Harlan.

Mr. Houston earned his Bachelor of Arts in German Language and Literature from Loyola University in New Orleans and his Juris Doctorate from The University of Texas School of Law. Mr. Houston was a Dean’s List student at Loyola and was awarded a full tuition and fees scholarship by the University of Texas. He also studied abroad in Vienna, Austria. After law school, Mr. Houston served two years as Senior Law Clerk to one of our nation’s most esteemed federal judges, the Honorable Damon J. Keith of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Mr. Houston has been recognized by the National Bar Association as one of its Top 40 Advocates under 40 and named one of 100 Emerging African-American Leaders by TheRoot.com. He has served as an adjunct professor of law at the Phoenix School of Law and frequently serves as a panelist and speaker on legal issues, civil rights history, and the groundbreaking work of his grandfather, noted civil rights lawyer Charles Hamilton Houston. Mr. Houston has been as a national speaker on Arizona’s immigration law and the role of the NAACP in the battle for desegregation in American public schools. Like his grandfather, Mr. Houston believes in equal access to education and human rights for all and has committed himself to the unrelenting quest for excellence in all pursuits.
